finely engraved and decorated with a landscape animated by figures engaged in daily activities, surrounded by animals and vegetation. The accuracy of the lines and the richness of the details reflect the mastery of 19th-century Asian workshops specialising in the decorative processing of shells destined for export to Europe as art objects and naturalistic curiosities.
