Fossilised ammonite, Italy or France, 19th century

Height x diameter: 14.5 x 8.5 cm. Base diameter: 7.5 cm
of the Cleoniceras genus, characterised by a spiral shell with a flat spiral section, a clearly visible internal chamber and smooth surfaces. The colour varies from amber brown to pearly white, enhancing the natural veining of the fossil. The ammonite is vertically mounted on a finely crafted golden metal support with leaf motifs, which acts as a decorative connecting element, resting on a cylindrical base turned in ebonised wood.
