Ivory and mother-of-pearl Christ, Italy, 18th century

The figure of Christ carved in elephant ivory, finely sculpted in the round and composed of three parts joined together: the body with the loincloth and the arms. The figure is characterized by accurate modeling, harmonious proportions, and anatomical realism typical of high-quality devotional sculpture. The cross, made of rosewood, is embellished with rich mother-of-pearl inlays forming floral and ornamental motifs distributed throughout the surface, culminating in trilobed terminals in Baroque style.
