Marble holy water font, Italy, 17th century
Height x width x depth: 16 x 14 x 8 cm. Weight: 1298 g
The composition develops according to a fan-shaped shell motif that forms its basin. The main body is richly decorated: a smooth central urn is flanked by two winged figures of cherubs or angels that merge with the volutes surrounding the urn itself. In the central part, used to contain holy water, there is an oval element that acts as a lid, bearing a relief depiction of two cherubs. The lower part of the sculpture is completed by a motif of stylized acanthus leaves.
