Sea urchin, Europe, 19th century

Height x diameter: 23 x 12.5 cm. Weight: 670 g
Echinus Esculentus, mounted on a circular brass base decorated with a band of leaf motifs. The structure rises with two lines of carved leaves that wrap around and support the curl, serving both as decoration and as a setting. The interior is made entirely of brass and features a finely crafted lid with leaf motifs, continuing the decorative language of the base. The edges of the lid are embellished with small natural pearls and small turquoise paste cylinders, while a delicate string of hinged beads surrounds the elongated handle, topped with a synthetic cabochon pearl. An object intended for collections and cabinets of curiosities.
