A pair of Covered Baluster Vases, China, Qing period

Height x diameter: 34 x 18 cm.
Porcelain decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt, in the typical Imari palette.
The baluster-shaped bodies are adorned with floral reserves featuring peonies and chrysanthemums amid stylised foliage and cartouches. The domed covers are surmounted by finials modelled as Buddhist lions (Foo dogs), finely painted in polychrome enamels.
