Boulle-style mantel clock signed B. Baltazar Paris, France, 19th Century
Height x width x depth: 86 x 45 x 16 cm.
ebonized wood with rich application of gilded bronze with plant motifs and masks, inlaid with tortoiseshell(hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae) and brass using the “Boulle” technique. Curved case with curved feet, cornice with gilded bronze figure of winged Nike. Chiseled brass dial with blue Roman numerals on white enamel. Mechanism signed “B. Baltazar, Paris.”
