Gilded bronze inkwell, Rome, 19th century
Height x width x depth: 19 x 30 x 21 cm
a monumental desk inkwell, modeled after a neoclassical architectural structure, with facades punctuated by columns, pilasters, and decorative medallions. The top is crowned by a sculpture depicting the Capitoline Wolf with Romulus and Remus. Two inkwells with lids are integrated into the upper section on either side of the she-wolf. The entire piece rests on a shaped base made of veined marble.
