Mantle clock, France, 19th century

A shaped case resting on spinning top feet, adorned with bronze statuettes representing the 'Moire', the personification of ineluctable destiny also called Fatae, i.e. those who preside over fate, placed on the front door. The statue at the top represents Minerva on a throne. Circular gilded dial with Roman numerals on white enamel, pendulum regulator and hour and half-hour chime on bell. The key and pendulum are still present.
