A pair of Italian solid silver candlesticks, mid-20th Century

Height: 30 cm, base: 9 cm. Total weight: 1,565 g.
single-candle silver candlesticks, crafted by casting and chasing.
The base is sculpted and undulating, with a three-lobed, curvilinear profile, resting on curly feet, and richly decorated with cartouches, volutes, and foliage motifs in the Rocaille style.
The shaft consists of a figurative sculptural element featuring a putto in the round, in a dynamic pose, supporting an ascending vine.
The modeling is soft and decorative, more ornamental than naturalistic.
Wide, shaped bobèche (candle holder) adorned with foliage motifs.

800/1000 silver, hallmarked “800 - 278 MI”, silversmith Luigi Porro.
