Literature:
Gerardo Sacco (Crotone, 1940)
Master goldsmith and one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian artistic jewellery.
Trained within the Calabrian artisanal tradition, he established his own workshop in Crotone in the 1960s, developing a highly distinctive body of work.
His production is characterised by a contemporary reinterpretation of models from Mediterranean antiquity, particularly those of Magna Graecia, expressed through a language marked by strong symbolic value and a pronounced material quality.
He creates jewellery and objects in precious metals, predominantly handcrafted, employing traditional techniques such as casting, chasing and repoussé.
A key figure in the Italian context, he has contributed to the recognition of jewellery as an autonomous artistic expression, beyond serial production.
