Born from Lo Russo’s desire to dialectically reconcile inner contradictions, the work reflects the agonizing split that torments every vertical path of inner exploration. To the famous Shakespearean dilemma: “To be or not to be?” the ambivalence born of doubt serves as a lever to escape the suffocating coils of the ego and access the transformative source of a new self. Dying is necessary for rebirth, and the loss of what has been ushers in the life of what still awaits becoming, for not all storms come to destroy. Once the fear of confronting the darkness of the unknown is overcome, the imagination opens a passage. Suspended in a golden sky, beyond the threshold of the known, two hands reveal the gateway to a silent and hidden realm.
