Italian solidf silver turtle-shaped box, mid-20th Century

Height x width x depth: 2 x 4.5 x 7 cm. Weight: 50 g
The shell opens up and acts as a snap-on lid, finely engraved with a burin and chiselled to replicate the horny plates. The animal’s body forms the storage compartment, with its legs, tail and head featuring a raised, scaly texture.

800/1000 silver, hallmarked "800 - CUSI - 26 MI", silversmith Cusi.
The full name of the renowned Milanese jewellery and silverware firm Cusi, founded by Annibale Cusi in 1886.
