Italian solid silver sculpture depicting a horseman, mid-20th Century

Height x width x depth: 10 x 9.5 x 4 cm. Weight: 180 g
cast in bronze. The sculpture is depicted in full dynamic action. The horseman wears the classic, intricately detailed historical uniform: the pelisse (a fur-lined jacket) billowing over his shoulders, the tunic with its finely engraved epaulettes on the chest, and a fur hat on his head. In his right hand he holds a sabre drawn upwards as a sign of a charge. The horse is depicted in motion with its right foreleg raised. The valdrappa (saddlecloth) is finely engraved with a royal monogram surmounted by a crown: the letters "GR" are clearly visible. The sculpture rests on a solid rectangular plinth.

800/1000 silver, hallmarked “800".
