Pectoral icon depicting Saint Parasceva, XIX century
Bronze casting
Height × width: 6.5 × 4.5 cm Weight: 44.4 g.
This icon belongs to the group of Russian Old Believer icons, produced in series from the 17th century onward and characterized by an exceptional care in preserving Byzantine canons, often executed in bronze and enriched with colored enamels. Small in size, the object was intended for private devotion; easily portable and concealable, it responded to the needs of a community persecuted by the state Church.
