Travel triptych, 19th century

Bronze casting with polychrome enamels
Altezza x larghezza: 14,5 x 37 cm Peso: 702,8 gr.
Typical of Old Believer production between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, this object constitutes a portable compendium of the faith and resilience of a community persecuted after the schism known as the Raskol. The devotional cycle begins with the veneration of the Pokrov (the Protection of the Mother of God), continues at the center with the Pantocrator flanked by saints, and concludes with the Mother of Consolation. The entire work, despite its small dimensions, reflects the aesthetic rigor and theological depth of the Old Believers, transforming a utilitarian object into a powerful instrument of religious identity.
