On the right (two vertical columns):
溪山清遠 (Xī Shān Qīng Yuǎn)
- “Clear and distant streams and mountains” (or more poetically “Clear and distant rivers and mountains”).
It is a classic title of Chinese landscape painting, very famous for the work of the same name by the painter Song Xia Gui.
On the left (smaller writing):
丙寅之夏 (Bǐngyín zhī xià)
“Summer of the Bingyin Year” (i.e. one of the years of the Chinese sexagenary cycle; for example 1926, 1986, etc.).
Under this writing there is a red seal, which is the painter's signature or a personal print.
