An antique Serapy carpet, West Persia, 19th century
342 x 260 cm
A finely woven Serapy carpet caratterized by a harmonious color scheme, based on pastel colors, as for example shades of ligh blue, rose and salmon. Among the geometrized ornaments branches, leaves, flowers and small stylized animals. The main border is decorated with an arcaic version of the “Herati”-pattern.
Some restorings and minor filling.
