The LEGO Group

26 x 19 x 4.5 cm

Science writer and editor Maia Weinstock combined her interests in space exploration, women’s scientific achievements and LEGO to create this 215-piece set with 4 minifigures. Nancy Grace Roman, Margaret Hamilton, Sally Ride and Mae Jemison appear beside miniature scenes celebrating their contributions to NASA.

The stack beside Hamilton recreates the famous photograph of her standing next to the Apollo software listings—a small detail with a remarkable history. Weinstock’s proposal reached 10,000 supporters in just 15 days, and her original prototypes later joined the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum collection. Now retired, this Ideas release offers collectors a compact tribute to four pioneers, backed by an unusually memorable story of its own.
