A pupil of Arie Smit, Ketut Tagen is one of the most popular artists on the scene in Penestanan, Bali. He is adept at combining bright colours in scenes depicting the traditional daily life of that village. His specific characteristic is the absence of anatomical details on the faces. He has exhibited in many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco (1964), the National Museum in Singapore (1970), the Singapore Art Museum (1994) and the National Museum in Jakarta (1995).
