A pair of leather horse covers, England, 19th - 20th century
Height x width x depth: 13 x 17 x 20 cm. Total weight: 1194 g.
Each element is equipped with buckles and straps for firm attachment to the horse's leg. The part in contact with the ground is flat, reinforced with an additional layer of leather to cushion the impact and distribute the weight more evenly. They were used to protect lawns and delicate surfaces (such as noble gardens, parks or parade grounds) from damage caused by horses' shod hooves.
