Group depicting the Nativity, Naples, early 19th century

The work is set in a wooden showcase and depicts the Nativity scene with Joseph, Mary and the Infant Jesus. The heads are in polychrome terracotta, the limbs in wood, the body in tow and the robes in silk. 
The Virgin, on the left, is seated and dressed in powdery silk robes and a turquoise cloak; Joseph, on the right, is dressed in a brown silk coat and trousers, with a stole, both facing the Child Jesus lying in the centre.
