Battisti, Lucio - Chitarra Classica a Sei corde, 1960s
Six-string classical guitar, once owned by Lucio Battisti.
Made by renowned luthier CARMELO CATANIA in his "leading manufacturer of artistic, luxury, and concert stringed musical instruments - Founded in 1908" in Mascalucia (CT).
Light-toned maple body, with mahogany for the reddish tone on the back. Dark-wood neck with original fingerboard, headstock, and tuning machines. Pickguard carved with a sunburst. Original bridge. Original metal string tree.
Inside the soundboard, visible from the rosette, is a label bearing the information MOD... 3 ... and the serial number 42430.
The guitar is pictured on page 12 of the 1957 Carmelo Catania catalog, precisely described as MODEL 3.
This is one of the guitars owned and used by the very young Lucio Battisti (Poggio Bustone, March 5, 1943 โ Milan, September 9, 1998), a gift from his father. The singer-songwriter also began playing with his first bands.
The guitar has a detachment from the lower back, which covers almost the entire semi-curved section. However, this can be easily restored, as there are still some wooden parts and the original dark wood color has not been damaged. The rest of the guitar is in excellent condition.
