Antonio González Velázquez
(Madrid, 1723 - 1793)
Attributed to

Mystic Vision of Saint Filippo Neri

Oil on canvas
cm. 63x35,5. Framed
The painting is a fine quality coeval replica of a composition of the same subject by Corrado Giaquinto, known for the versions currently held at the Musée Fesch in Ajaccio and the Pinacoteca di Montefortino. That illustrious prototype profoundly influenced Antonio González Velázquez, who created at least one other version in addition to ours, now housed in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Oviedo.
