Coin cabinet, Lombardy area, 18th century

Height x width x depth: 27,5 x 22 x 14,5 cm.
made of ebonised wood with a rectangular base structure, resting on four shaped legs. The body is defined by an engraved moulding that outlines the edges and the cornice; the latter acts as an opening lid, concealing an upper storage compartment. The central body is closed at the front by two hinged doors that reveal two rows of four drawers each, the upper and lower ones being larger in size; they are positioned to frame a larger central drawer. All drawers are fitted with bone knobs. The lower base acts as a plinth and conceals a large pull-out drawer, which extends across the entire width of the cabinet, also fitted with a central bone knob. The interiors of each drawer are lined with red velvet.
