Italian coin cabinet with polychrome marble, early 17th century

with a wooden structure, covered in ebonised wood and embellished with polychrome marble and lapis lazuli inserts, resting on a carved ebonised base. The architectural layout of the façade is organised in a rigorous palatial composition, with marble columns and gilded capitals that rhythmically mark the vertical divisions. The front is divided into a series of square drawers arranged symmetrically in several rows, each decorated with marble panels. In the centre is an architectural door surmounted by a tympanum embellished with a niche with a marble mirror. The plinth and base, also decorated with marble inserts, rest on four turned legs joined by X-shaped crossbars.
