Italian solid silver chalice, Rome, early 18th century
Height x width x depth: 22 x 11 x 11 cm. Weight: 470 g approx.
circular gilded base engraved with floral motifs and shields; smooth central shaft with knot with plant motifs and geometric figures; smooth gilded silver cup.
Cup hallmarked with the chamber mark in use in Rome (Papal States) for silverware, not perfectly legible, depicting the "pavilion with the crossed keys of St. Peter" in use at the beginning of the 18th century.
