Italian chalice, Rome, early 18th century
Height x width x depth: 22 x 11 x 11 cm. Weight: 470 g approx.
circular brass base engraved with floral motifs and shields; smooth central shaft with knot with plant motifs and geometric figures; smooth silver cup gilded on the inside.
Cup hallmarked with the chamber mark in use in Rome (Papal States) for silverware, not perfectly legible, depicting the "pavilion with the crossed keys of St. Peter" in use at the beginning of the 18th century.
