English Georgian sterling silver tea urn , London, 1791-1792

Height x width x depth: 53 x 33 x 31 cm. Weight: 3920 g
resting on a square base with four circular feet. The ovoid body is marked by repeated vertical bands and enriched, in the upper part, by finely worked festoons in relief and chiselled. A band decorated with floral motifs runs along the top of the body. Two loop handles are attached to the sides. The central body has a container for burning charcoal and a recessed tube to diffuse the heat. The piece is completed by a plug-in lid, decorated with banded motifs and culminating in a plant element.
