Natural shell, Europe, 19th century
Height x width x depth: 35 x 16 x 15 cm
of the Strombus type, finely decorated with gilt bronze appliqués featuring plant motifs and acanthus leaf decorations. The frame rests on a rich silver-plated metal base modelled with intertwined dolphins and rocaille elements in neo-baroque style.
