Pair of sea urchins, France or Italy, 19th century

Height x diameter: 24 x 10 cm
held up by male figures in gilded metal depicted wearing only a loincloth and with their arms raised in a gesture of support. The figures rest on finely crafted circular bases, under whose feet a mother-of-pearl disc is inserted. Circular, elongated metal elements are mounted on top of the curls, ending with decorative spherical balls. These frames combine classical taste and a collector's spirit, typical of 19th-century Wunderkammern.
Provenance:
Count Luigi Rigi Luperti collection.
