Pair of candlesticks. Niccolò Roccatagliata (1560 - 1636) School of. 16th-17th century. Bronze, black patina.

Each 14 x 14.5 x 12 cm
Pair of patinated bronze candlesticks resting on tripod bases in the shape of satyrs holding a bobege bearing grotesque masks.

A model traditionally attributed to the Paduan Renaissance school and often linked to the work of Niccolò Roccatagliata (1560–1636) and his school. This decorative motif, depicting three satyrs holding a candlestick while seated on scrolls, can be found in other objects from the same school but with different functions. For example, see the inkwell sold at Sotheby's on December 17, 2008, New York, USA.

For similar models, compare the pair of candlesticks held in the collection of the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum in Verona, also attributed to the school of Niccolò Roccatagliata.
