A group of ten Italian sculptures in silver and polychrome enamels, second half of the 20th century
Height x width x depth (maximum): 15 x 11.5 x 5 cm. Total weight: approx. 3620 g
depicting soldiers of various ranks and regiments belonging to the European armies of the Napoleonic and nineteenth-century periods. The entire series is cast and features meticulously hand-decorated details in polychrome enamels.
Each piece is made of 800/1000 silver, each one hallmarked "800" - "1831 MI".
It comprises:
- six mounted soldiers in period uniform, depicted astride horses in motion; the riders wear uniforms vividly enamelled in red, light blue, green and blue, and stand on rectangular bases in moulded silver with edges finely decorated with plant motifs and four spherical feet. Each base bears a metal plaque identifying the regiment on the front.
- four foot soldiers equipped with period gear and weaponry, resting on ornate, scroll-shaped bases in the Rococo/Baroque style made of embossed silver, each featuring an engraved plaque on the front.
Each piece is made of 800/1000 silver, each one hallmarked "800" - "1831 MI".
