Battisti, Lucio - "Gente per bene gente per male", 1971
cm.50x45
Oil on canvas, 50 x 45 cm, created in 1971 by Lucio Battisti (Poggio Bustone, March 5, 1943 β Milan, September 9, 1998) and titled GENTE PER BENE GENTE PER MALE.
It is part of a series of original works by Battisti, who was certainly less well-known as a painter, but which reveals his remarkable skill and creative intuition for the world of figurative art. It is certainly a welcome discovery for collectors and fans of the singer-songwriter.
It depicts a blue globe rising from below in search of space, light, warmth, and friendship, with a red tentacle looming over it to hide it. The painting is a summary of Battisti until 1970, shy and reserved, without many friends and with a father who insisted on his studies at best. Catapulted into the great Roman city, Lucio is disoriented and insecure, but in this painting he portrays optimism and encouragement in his growth. His dreams are beginning to come true, and his expectations are coming true, especially in the field of music.
Signed at the back, LUCIO BATTISTI 6/71.
