Bottle opener, Probably Mexico, 20th century
Height x width: 9.5 x 21 cm. Height x base width: 10 x 7.5 cm
made in the shape of a jointed fish, with a body covered in mother-of-pearl plates. The mouth acts as a bottle opener. The articulated structure allows for fluid movement of the body, recalling ancient techniques that imitated live fish, but reinterpreted in a modern key. The artefact is mounted on an oval mother-of-pearl base, embellished with decorative applications
