The department is specialized in high quality furniture and art objects ranging in the field of applied arts from the fifteenth century to the early twentieth century.

Its staff - with the external consultancy of Fabio Romano Moroni and the experts of Ce.S.Ar Centro Studi Archeometrici -is responsible for the research, evaluation and placement on the Italian and foreign markets of works of applied art on consignment, destined for sale by auction and private treaty (the latter especially reserved for pieces of particular historical, artistic and economic value).

In particular, they seek and propose:
  • furniture and entire furnishings from the high period to the early 1900s;
  • applied art objects such as small sculptures, clocks, glassware, ceramics, objets de vertu from the 16th century to the early 20th century;
  • antique tapestries.

In parallel, a service of appraisals, diagnostic analysis and drafting of certificates of antiquity preparatory to the issue of licenses granted by the C.I.T.E.S. Certification Service is offered. of the State Forestry Department for furniture and objects made in whole or in part with wood, ivory, coral, turtle, leather and materials derived from endangered species of wild fauna and flora as listed in the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species called CITES applied in Italy through Law 150/1992, subsequently amended, and the decrees of the Ministry of the Environment of 19/4/1996 and 26/4/2001.

A selection of furniture and other objects of applied art that can be purchased out of auction is always available at the department.

Fabio Romano Moroni is president of Ce.S.Ar. Archaeometrical Studies Centre and expert of the Civil and Criminal Court of Rome, Antiquities and Precious, enrolled in the role of Experts and Experts of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome. Specialized in asset inventories, hereditary divisions, C.I.T.E.S. regulations and non-destructive diagnostic analyses on Cultural Heritage, he has a long experience also in the antiquarian sector. His work includes the cataloguing of Villa Savoia in Rome and numerous publications for diagnostic analysis. In 2018, as head of the Ce.S.Ar Department of Scientific Analysis on Cultural Heritage, he patented, in collaboration with the University of Rome La Sapienza and the company Ars Mensurae, XART Fingerprint Authentication System, an innovative method of anti-counterfeiting works of art and valuable objects (paintings, silverware, bronzes, porcelain, etc.).
