Amitabh Kumar is a Bangalore based artist and educator. He is currently exploring tendencies, treatments and stories of varied kinds influenced by anti-humanism, clumsy menace, brutalist architecture, cinema, Tijuana Bible and Indian superhero comics.

This lot is part of Amitabh Kumar’s long-term project π˜”π˜Άπ˜€π˜© π˜”π˜Άπ˜€π˜© was originally conceived in 2014 as a mural, which he painted at the point where Pali Village meets Bandra in Mumbai. He noticed these very different ideas of β€œthe urban”: one was fast developing into the city of the future and the other was a quaint hamlet in the middle of all the bustle. The liminal space between felt like a warzone where these two very different ideas collided. This inspired a battle scene where a β€œBadman”, a chainsaw-wielding figure, is about to attack a mythical double-headed crocodile.
