1. Participation Methods
You may participate online after registering on our website www.bertolamifineart.com, on Bidinside, or by submitting a written bid.
a. Online Participation
You can place bids during the auction by registering on our website www.bertolamifineart.com or on Bidinside platform.
The registration process on www.bertolamifineart.com requires you to upload copies of your identification documents as requested by the system. Registration is considered complete only upon receipt of a confirmation email from the auction house.

b. Written Bid Participation
Bids can be placed in writing by filling out the appropriate proxy bid form, which must be sent via email to info@bertolamifineart.com no later than:
- 10:00 AM on 15th September 2025 for lots 1-856;
- 10:00 AM on 16th September 2025 for lots 857-1682;
- 10:00 AM on 17th September 2025 for lots 1683-2615.
2. Pre-Auction Bids
Pre-auction bids can be placed from the date of publication of the online catalogue until:
- 10:00 AM on 15th September 2025 for lots 1-856;
- 10:00 AM on 16th September 2025 for lots 857-1682;
- 10:00 AM on 17th September 2025 for lots 1683-2615.
- Online on www.bertolamifineart.com or the partner platform Bidinside
- In writing as described in section b of article 1
In case of:
- a single pre-auction bid on a lot, and no counterbids during the live auction, the lot will be awarded at the starting price, even if the sole bid exceeds it. (The pre-auction bid represents the maximum amount the bidder is willing to pay.) Example: Starting price €1,000 – Single pre-auction bid €1,500 – Hammer price €1,000
- Multiple pre-auction bids of the same amount on a lot, and no counterbids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the bidder who submitted the earliest bid.
- Multiple pre-auction bids of the same amount on the same lot placed on different platforms
In the absence of higher bids during the auction, if bids of the same amount have been placed through different platforms, the lot will be awarded to the bidder who placed the offer on the website www.bertolamifineart.com, even if that bid was placed at a later date than those submitted through the partner platform Bidinside.
- Multiple pre-auction bids of different amounts on a lot, and no counterbids during the auction, the lot will be awarded to the highest bidder at a price calculated by adding a predetermined increment (see Table A below) to the second-highest bid. Example: Bidder A: €1,270; Bidder B: €1,800 – Bidder B wins at €1,370, as €100 is added to the second-highest bid (falling within the €1,000–1,999 bracket of Table A).
3. Payment Methods
Winning bidders can choose from the following payment methods:
- Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express)
- PayPal
- Bank transfer to Bertolami Fine Art S.r.l. (for non-EU payments, please add €10 to the invoice)
- Cash (up to the legal limit)
- For known clients only: Non-transferable bank cheque or cashier's cheque payable to Bertolami Fine Art s.r.l. (Also subject to the €10 fee for non-EU bank transfers)
A late payment fee of 1% per month will be applied from the 31st day after the auction date on any unpaid invoices.
Note:
Invoices paid by cheque, cash, or bank transfer are exempt from the administrative fees applied to payments made by credit card (+1.5%) or PayPal (+3.5%).
4. Auction Fees
The buyer will pay Bertolami Fine Art a commission of 22% of the hammer price for each lot purchased.
Lots purchased through online participation on www.bertolamifineart.com are not subject to additional increments.
5. Additional Costs
Shipping costs, any customs duties, and the costs for the issuance of a Certificate of Free Circulation or any other required ministry authorisation for the export of the winning lots are the responsibility of the buyer.
In case of unjustified claims, if goods need to be returned to Bertolami Fine Art, customs and shipping costs are at the buyer’s expense.
6. Authenticity: Guarantees and Disputes
As per Bertolami Fine Art’s long-established tradition, all coins offered for sale are guaranteed authentic without time limits. The risk of any valuation errors is covered by the Lloyd’s Error & Omissions insurance policy. Bertolami Fine Art provides certificates of authenticity for the coins in its auctions upon request.
Any disputes regarding the authenticity of the coins must be supported by a certificate from a recognized expert. The certificate should include the reasons for the non-authenticity opinion and the results of any diagnostic investigations conducted on the coin.
Opinions from grading companies are not considered certificates.
7. Description of Lots
As the agent of the seller, Bertolami Fine Art S.r.l. is exempt from any responsibility regarding the provenance, descriptions, and evaluations of the lots in the catalogue, condition reports, or any other illustrative material. These descriptions are purely indicative and should be considered as personal opinions of our experts.
8. Issuance of Certificate of Free Circulation or Other Required Export Authorization
Delivery of lots outside Italy may be subject to the rules established by the Cultural Heritage Code (Legislative Decree 42/2004 and subsequent amendments) regarding the export of cultural heritage items. If the item purchased requires any form of ministry authorisation for export from Italy, the processing time for such authorisation will be regulated by the Export Office of the Ministry of Culture.
This processing time is typically between 60-90 days for a Certificate of Free Circulation (Article 68 of the Cultural Heritage Code) and 30 days for a Self-Certification. Bertolami Fine Art assumes no responsibility for any delays in processing, which are the responsibility of the relevant authorities.
9. Terms and Conditions of Sale
The terms and conditions of sale governing the relationship between Bertolami Fine Art and clients participating in the auctions are published in every catalogue. As these are automatically accepted upon participation in the auction, please read them carefully.
In case of a discrepancy between the version of the terms and conditions published in the printed catalogue and the one on the online catalogue, the online version will prevail.
10. Publication of Auction Results
The list of winning bids will be published by Bertolami Fine Art on its website, www.bertolamifineart.com, for informational purposes, within ten days after the conclusion of the auction.
11. Delivery of Winning Lots
Winning lots will be delivered once full payment has been received.

Please note that Bertolami Fine Art does not provide its own shipping service. However, we can assist the buyer by connecting them with specialised couriers already successfully used by the auction house, who can provide a free, no-obligation quote.
The buyer is free to use their own courier of choice.
Bertolami Fine Art is not responsible for the actions of the courier.
